Happy 12th Birthday Austin!

Today is Austin's 12th Birthday. Gosh, I can't believe it's already been 12 years since I held him in my arms for the first time. He's grown pretty tall now, just less than an inch shorter than I am and is graduating from elementary school next week!

The photo above is taken last night when Austin finally got his much awaited gift, a Wowwee Roboquad. He was waiting for this for quite a while and when his Di-ee gave him money enough to buy one, he couldn't wait to get his hands on one of the robots. We went to Toys R Us last week but it was out of stock. I tried calling Kidz Station yesterday and good thing there's stocks available.

Happy birthday my dear Austin and Congratulations! You make us proud! Love you!

We had a very enjoyable scrapping day last Feb. 20 at Ria's house which was dubbed as "Nikki Sivils Day". Ria, our ever gracious host, generously shared us her excess papers from Nikki Sivils as well as her scraps which we turned into works of art. I was able to make 4 LOs using Nikki Sivils stuff and 2 more finished LOs as well as a partially finished one. I still haven't taken photos of the other 3 non-Nikki Sivils LO and 1 Nikki Sivils layout but I will soon! Meanwhile, here's what I have made using Nikki Sivils:

I found some Halloween photos of Austin and his cousins in my boxful of photos and decided to scrap them. I think Austin was around 7 years old when this was taken. When we showed the layouts to David, he insisted it was him in the photos! That's how much David and Austin looks alike that sometimes both of them get confused too!

My yaya is a trigger happy person when it comes to taking pictures, that even if I'm not home most of the time due to work, I still got tons of unscrapped photos of David. Yaya keeps on asking if I had already have the photos developed (which I still have not done yet). David is comfortable even when yaya asks him to pose for the camera.

Here are some more layouts I made over the month

I used WRMK's Geohectic paper for this one. I made this in less than 30 minutes and I love the outcome of this very simple layout. I got the flower and the vine embellishment from Morning Glory.

David loves to make faces when his yaya takes photos of him and of course, being his mom, I can't get enough of it! So here's another layout with his many facial expressions. I used WRMK Geohectic and White Out Explore papers.

What I love about Graphic 45 papers is that despite the fact that they are vintage, their colors still pop out. I mixed Jillibean staples paper here.

Here's 2 more layouts I made a few weeks ago.

This one is a photo of Meng and Me during our day trip to Tagaytay. I used Jillibean staples and Fancy Pants' Vintage love papers.

The photo on this layout was also taken on the same day while Meng and I were at Gourmet's Cafe. I was playing around with my camera when I took this photo. This cellphone was been very useful for Meng since he got it because he could always check for his emails and surf the net through his phone. Nowadays, I usually catch him on his cell talking to clients no matter what day or time it is. Having your own business usually means you're on call 24/7 in case some issues arrives that needs to be addressed immediately. But then, it has been Meng's dream to have his own business. So far, things have been picking up with meetings scheduled for prospect clients almost everyday. He's quite stressed out these days, but happy with the chance to introduce his products to prospective clients. We hope and pray everything will work out for Cid Systems.

Bea and Lala had a joint birthday treat last February 5 at Lasting Impression using Prima's Kit for a Cause. Iris made a demo on how she made her sample layout using the kits materials and afterwards, I fell in love with glimmer mists, alcohol inks and stickles! Thanks Bea and Lala for this wonderful treat and thanks Iris for teaching us!

Often times I would take pictures of my kids or my husband or me with either my kids or husband, but rarely do I get to have pictures of myself taken. So I decided to do what most people are doing right now...taking photos of themselves ala Facebook profile style. It took quite a few tries to get the right angle (meaning to hide my double chin!). meng was amused with what I'm doing, he took photos of me taking pictures of myself.

I used Scenic Route kraft paper from the Garden grove collection and papers from Prima's Blooming Retro collection. All materials (except for the alphas) are available at Lasting Impression

Happy Valentines Day!

For Valentines Day this year, I made some flowers from DCWV cardstock and sprayed them with glimmer mist and inked them using distress ink pads to make them a little bit more real looking. I'm super loving the glimmer mist and I wish I could have all the colors!

I also experimented on printed cardstock and it turned out quite well too.

Layouts for 2010

It's been almost a month since my last post. January has been very busy for me especially in the office. My assistant was on vacation for the 1st 2 weeks and we are preparing documents required for ISO certification so everything was needed ASAP..government deadlines, manuals, payroll.....

January is also a month of celebration for our family as David and Meng's birthdays both fall on January.

My way of destressing nowadays is to scrap. Since I usually have insomnia when I'm stressed, might as well put the time to do something productive like scrapping!

So far I have finished 8 layouts since January..and I hope to finish more. I still have digital albums to finish and loads of unscrapped photos in my photobox and my hard disk!

Here's what I've done so far...

David just turned 3!

David turned 3 last January 6. Having attended several children's party, he became really excited as his own birthday approaches.

I asked him which theme he wanted: Handy Manny or Little Einstein. He chose Handy Manny.

Luckily, a lot of printable party stuff are available at the disney asia website so I printed out images of the tools and Manny as his cupcake topper.

The night before, I made a belt bag for him using felt cloth but unfortunately, all his jeans are in the laundry so he wasn't able to wear his handy manny outfit. We'll just have a photo taken of him wearing it another time.

He had a mini celebration at Kong-kong's office where my FIL's secretaries bought him a cake. In the evening, we had a small celebration at my SIL, Len's house since David loves to be with his cousins' Shane and Lance. Len gave him a Superman costume which he wore the entire night.

Austin's a Tween now!

I can't believe my eldest son, Austin is turning into a teenager now. It only seemed like yesterday when Meng and I would take turns putting him to sleep (we have to be carrying him and swaying him while standing up...he cries when we sit) when Yaya went on a day off.

It only seemed like yesterday when he decided to be pilosopo with me while I was scolding him(he was around 2yo that time), I got so mad and was laughing at the same time that Meng thought I was going crazy.

It only seemed like yesterday when we would refuse to go to school just because he misses me and would insist going to the office with me.

It only seemed like yesterday when he was starting elementary school and doesn't want me to kiss him goodbye in front of the school gate.

Most parents dread the adolescent years because this is the time when the kids want to have their own time with their friends rather than be seen hanging out with their parents. Thankfully, we still haven't reached that stage. For now, he likes tagging along with us (now more with Meng than me). He still likes going on movie dates with Meng. He still likes playing with his brother, David even if it means playing toddler games with him.

I came to become more aware of this when we were buying shoes for him yesterday. His black leather school shoes is now broken and so is his rubber shoes for P.E. So off we went to the mall yesterday to buy new ones. He tried trying on a size 7 from the men's shoes section but if was a bit tight, till we finally settled on a size 8. His rubber shoes were size 9!

When we got home, we got Meng to try out the shoes coz I got a feelling it would fit him coz as far as I remember, Meng's just a size 8.5. True enough both shoes fit Meng! It won't be long till he can also fit in Meng's jeans.

Meng keeps on telling me to stop treating Austin like a baby, but how can I help it? He is my baby and will always be even if he has a family of his own. Just like how our parents are constantly hovering over us even if we're now adults with families of our own.

I love you Austin! You'll always be mommy's baby no matter what.

When people ask me how I can finish a lot of layouts in a day, this is my secret. I usually have a folder full of sketches and photos of layouts of others that I like.

Christmas photos

Since a couple of Christmases ago, we have started the tradition of having our Christmas photos taken. We still haven't gotten the chance to have our family photo taken mainly due to lack of time. I hope we'd be able to take one before the year ends.

Sue, Meng and I had the chance to have some shots taken at the lobby of Makati Shangri-la Hotel. Thanks Sue for taking our photos. I hope we'd be able to bring Austin and David here too for a family portrait. I absolutely love that Santa chair!

There's something wrong with my laptop's monitor I think coz the photos were not this saturated when I edited them. Oh well, I'll just edit them again before I have them printed.

Christmas Ornaments

I made these ornaments using Making Memories' Mistletoe line from Lasting Impression.

One of the papers had printed tags as pattern and I punched out almost all of the tags using the Large circle punch of Fiskars (also available in Lasting Impression)

20 circle diecuts can make 1 of these...

This is another accordion photo bag I made using Fancy Pants' Christmas Magic line. For instructions on how to make this bag, visit this site. I altered the size a bit so there'll be extra space inside the bag. I also added chipboard to the top and bottom part to make it sturdier.

Christmas projects

This Christmas season, my Bind it All worked overtime and so did I! Around half of the gifts I gave this Christmas are handmade by me. It was fun making the gifts but I'm not sure if I'll be doing the same next year. Maybe if I start early, I won't get too rushed next year...hmmm...

I gave out notepads and calendars as well as notebooks and accordion photo bags this Christmas. I also made little bags out of scrapbook paper for my son's gifts to his classmates. Hope the recipients liked them. I also got an order of 30 notebooks from Austin's tutor so that what kept me busy last week and this week. Finally everything's all done!

Sassafras Lass - Monstrosity

Here's a layout using Sassafras Lass - Monstrosity line.

This year, we are unable to go trick or treating because we were expecting a typhoon to come. We decided to just stay home and stay safe. However, it was all bright and sunny on the morning of October 31! A day before, we had a mini Halloween party in the office and I made these decors. Austin and David decided to hide behind Frankenstein and Jack o Lantern while I take their photos.

I was so in the mood last Saturday that I was able to make 2 journals aside from the Christmas countdown project.

The first one is a gift to my hubby's kinakapatid's niece who's visiting from the US.

I used my old papers from Sassafras Lass and Love Elsie to make the cover. I also doodled over the letters

The second one is a gift for my niece, Sheniah, who's turning 12 on the 25th. She loves to draw so I think this journal will be quite useful for her.

I used Sassafras Lass - Life is beautiful -Wall of fame paper as well as the backside of Webster's Pages Sweet as a Cherry Pie - fly a kite paper. For the lock, I also used Webster's Pages which I folded to make it sturdier. I also added glossy accents on the name and circle frame for dimension.

Christmas Countdown!

I finally got to make my Christmas countdown project. I've been wanting to make this since last year but never got around to do it. I used Making Memories' Fa-la-la collection last year mixed with this year's Mistletoe collection. I also got to use my Kaisercraft wooden album from last year's purchase too. Painted it with red and stamped some polkadots with paint too.

I used Making Memories shimmer alphabets for the word Christmas and their mini alpha for the word Countdown...tied the 2 wooden album pages together with ribbon. I punched out the round tags from the Mistletoe collection and placed it on both sides of the wood to extend the area where I placed the word Christmas.

Here are the cards I made for the countdown numbers. I cut out the numbers from the Fa-la-la collection except for the number 12 which I have already used in another layout.

Cosmo Cricket's Earth Love

I made a project and a couple of layouts (and still have some more papers left) with Cosmo Cricket's Earth Love.

I made this quickie gift for my mom last weekend for her birthday.

This layout is for my niece, Sheniah. The photo was taken last October 25 when she was a junior bridesmaid for the wedding of Meng's cousin, Cathy to our batchmate, Eric.

In this layout, I used Webster's Pages' alpha stickers which is quite a bargain at Php 200. It has 4 sets of alpha stickers in 1 12x12 sheet. Each sheet has 4 colors so you could mix and match alphas.

Here's another layout using Earth Love. The photos were taken a few days ago when we visited my niece, Selina with David and my parents. I cut out the birds and the clouds to add some depth to the layout.

I put what I learned last Scrapjam to use. Since I'm too lazy to bring my paints out, I distressed this arrow chipboard using Tim Holtz' Distress Ink pads. Then I added the arrow rub-on from Fancy Pants' About a boy line. Finally i get to use my leftover rub-ons from last year.

Here's a layout using one of the new arrivals of Lasting Impression, Sassafras' Me Likey collection.

Aside from the bright colors, what i love about this collection is that you can maximize the paper by cutting out the elements.

The butterfly, apple, arrow, watermelon, frog, letters C and L, pear and candy were cut out from the Happy Tunes paper. I still got a lot left that Liza was able to use some of it for her own layout.

And as Liza pointed out during our last scrap day, it's easy to mix and match the different lines of Sassafras!

The bottom borders of the picture were punched out using EK success' newest punches, Single Embossed Curve and Single Diamond Lace. (Thanks Anj for lending me your punches). I have already placed my reservation on these punches at Lasting Impression as they sell out really fast!

David's starting to like taking photos of other people (in this picture, he was trying to take a photo of his cousin, Selina) more than posing in front of the camera. He already knows how to operate my camera phone so there are times I'd get surprised that there are new photos in my phone's image gallery.

Inspired by Journaling Junkie's Challenge 66, Here's a layout I created about my baby sister, June. (I have another sister named May...and we're all born in the month we're named after)

Title: Baby Sister

Journaling: Among the 3 of us sisters, you and I look so much alike that people mistake you for me and vice versa. Working in the same office adds to the confusion as some people I know wondered why I didn't acknowledge them when they see you in the elevator or in the lobby, later realizing it was you they saw, not me.

Among the 3 of us, you and I are the least closest to each other, with a six year gap between us. With me already married as you approached your teens, we didn't get to bond a lot.

You've always been our baby, our princess. Mommy didn't even want you anywhere near the kitchen when you were single, afraid you might burn something. Yet you have matured quite a lot since you got married. You've become a queen in your own kitchen, whipping up gourmet dishes. You've become a wonderful mommy to Selina, tirelessly breastfeeding her until now that she's 8 months old even when you're already back at work.

Despite being sheltered by Mommy and Daddy for most of your life, you still have the eagerness and the patience to learn new things on your own. You're the type of person who always gives others the benefit of the doubt before jumping to any conclusion or judging others. This is your greatest asset.

Even though we do not tell you this as often as we nag you with our sermons, we are very proud of you, for being a good soul, for your dedication, and for constantly improving yourself. Even though we are still not very close despite being officemates for several years now and seeing each other almost every day, I want you to know that I'm very proud of you and I love you and you will always be our baby.

What to do with excess rub-ons

While surfing the net for ideas on what to give my son's teachers for teacher's day, I chanced upon a site where the owner used her excess rub-ons on bottles and filled them with had soap or lotion.

Here's what I did:

I bought Liquid hand soap in pump bottles from my sister in law and rubbed my excess rub-ons on it. I had fun making this and at the same time glad to be able to make use of my excess rub-ons.

This is also a great gift idea for Christmas. Aside from toiletries, you can fill empty bottles with candies and chocolates or marshmallows.

I was showing Meng the gifts I prepared for Austin's teachers for Teacher's Day when David asked what were those for. I told him that they were for Ahia's teachers.

Turning turning

After dining at China Palace in Mall of Asia, my sis-in-law Jene urged David to try out the mini ferris wheel outside the restaurant, to which David obliged.

Since it's his 1st time to ride something like this, he didn't know what it's called. So he decided to give it a name. He called it turning turning referring to its movement.

Before we left, he waved goodbye and said "Bye turning turning!"

What kind of DSLR camera fits you best

Months ago, I took one of the tests in Facebook which helps you decide what kind of DSLR fits you best. The result: "You don't need a DSLR!"

Since Meng is into photography, he explained to me for the nth time what aperture, shutter speed and all those camera talk means. However, I still can't manage to make all those information sink in to me. I think Austin understands those concepts better than I do.

Before we had our DSLR, I used to take pictures with my camera phone. I was quite satisfied with the outdoor shots my camera phone can take. With the DSLR, I always shoot with the P mode as the other settings still confuse me. I think I take better photos with the camera phone than the DSLR..hehehe

A day before I left for Singapore, on a late stormy afternoon, I dragged Meng to Quiapo to get myself a Panasonic Lumix LX3 from Mayer Photo. Not even a heavy rain and flood could stop me from buying myself my very own camera...hehehe. I had been planning to buy this in Singapore as they said it's cheaper to buy electronics in Singapore, but when I emailed the shop where I'm suppose to buy it they said they don't have any stock left. I was skeptical to buy at other stores as there have been feedbacks about dishonest sellers in other stores, so with around a thousand or two peso difference, I decided to buy the unit locally. (My sister-in-law, Lujene was lucky because when we went to Singapore the following day and decided to drop by John 3:16 in Funan IT Mall, 1 unit arrived that day so she was able to get hers in Singapore)

Together with the unit, I got a 4GB memory and a lightweight tripod (which I didn't get to use in Singapore :() and went home with a big smile on my face. At last, I don't have to bug Meng to take photos.

I'm still learning to navigate my camera, trying out the different shooting modes and trying to understand what aperture and shutter speed is about and how to apply them. Hopefully, this time, I would finally understand it.

This morning, while on our way to Makati, Meng woke me up to show me this motorcycle driver with a tire around him. Sabi ni Meng, bka takot daw sa baha..bka malunod sya...hehehe

So I quickly grabbed my camera from my bag and took a photo of the motorcycle driver. :)

Scrap Buffet

Studio Azul together with Pinoyscrapbookers held a one-of-a-kind scrapbooking event last July 11 called Scrap Buffet. It was indeed a wonderful buffet where all the participants went home busog with finished layouts and yummy food! I was able to finish 6 LOs and a card. Special shoutout to Ms. Marian for giving me her scraps from her 1st kit. I completed my first LO for the day (Random facts about me) using her unused papers and scraps.

Mosquito patches

One night, David decided to play with a sheet of Cars stickers he found.

He decided that his working daddy's arms would be the perfect sticker board so he started removing each sticker from the sheet and stuck it on his daddy's arms.

When Meng was trying to remove them, David asked him not to. He said those were mosquito patches so the mosquitos won't bite his daddy.

So poor Meng had to kept those mosquito patches on till it was time for us to go to sleep :) If only those stickers can really keep away mosquitoes would have bought a big bundle of them. There's just too many mosquitoes nowadays.

One Scrappy Night

Glad scrapping mojo's still here and hope it will not leave me anytime soon as I'm going to Studio Azul's Scrapbook Buffet! Will be going there with my friend, Arlene and hoping we'll be able to finish a lot of layouts.

I got inspired by the sketches I was downloading yesterday, that I made 2 layouts last night.

Title: Computer Whiz

I scraplifted this layout from a layout i saw in the Fancy Pants blog by Ronda Palazarri entitled Logan. I love how she stamped the circle journal stamp on top. I got to use both old and new papers in this layout (Pia, nagagamit ko na mga luma kong papel at scraps!)

Title: Life at 32

I made this layout for the Coordinates Collection sketch challenge. I think I'm gonna follow sketches for a while so I can get more layouts done. Conceptualizing on how the photos should be placed takes a lot of my time and a sketch really helps when I couldn't get balance the placement of my photos.

I used papers from Dream Street and Collage Press (leftover from the mini album last saturday) for this layout.

Scrapping Mojo's back!

I don't know what had gotten into me last night, but I just went upstairs to scrap and couldn't stop! I hope this happens often so I won't have backlogs!

Title: Eleven

I found some of my old Cosmo Cricket papers from the Get Happy collection. These are leftovers from a layout I made before and was so happy I was able to create another one out of the remaining papers. This is one of my favorite lines from Cosmo Cricket because of its boyish colors.

This layout is about Austin's 11th birthday and I realized when I was editing the photos that Austin didn't have any solo shot. David wouldn't leave his side...so excited to blow out the candle.

Title: Live It Boy Style

I used Fancy Pants' Kraft Kuts as base together with patterned papers from Making Memories, Little Yellow Bicycle and Cosmo Cricket and embellishments from Making Memories. I finally got to use an old sticker in my stash for the titles and added vinyl stickers on top of the letters for added effect.

Title: What to do with potholders

I used a Bazzill scallop paper as base, and shaped papers from Collage Press and Rusty Pickle. I finally got to use my Maya Road trees and MM animal crackers chipboard and some of my felt from Fancy Pants.

I recently got ink pads from Studio G and was very happy with the outcome of the white ink pad. I used it with my Autumn Leaves stamp in stamping the round design at the upper left of my layout.

I also had an MM tag rim which I finally got to use. Since I don't have the tag maker, I used my crop-a-dile to close the rim.

Title: Bubbly Fun

It's animal fever again! I used papers from Dejaviews and Little Yellow Bicycle and embellishments from Little Yellow Bicycle and Fancy Pants to complete this layout. Finally found some use to my BG Obscure alpha stickers in this layout.

David loves bubbles and found a way to enjoy them without having to exert a lot of effort. He stood by the aircon and let the aircon blow all the bubbles!

I just realized I should have placed this as journaling in my layout. Will add it tonight....hehehe

Finally, I get to post some layouts after so many months of scrapping hiatus. My friends have been reminding me whenever we meet that I haven't been updating my blog (yet my facebook is updated..haha) I've been struck with tamaditis since January that my scrap stuff's been a bit dusty.

Title: Cheeky Boy

Made this using Making Memories paper. I edged the photos with Crackle paint and covered Maya Road chipboard with cotton to imitate clouds.

I love the different faces of David in this layout. His face is so expressive!

Title: Linked

I used Basic Grey Obscure papers for this layout. I left this unfinished and later found a magazine with a layout similar to this, and liked the journaling and title so I scraplifted it.

I made use of my brads in this layout.

Title: Joy of Being Together

I used KI Memories diecut sheet for this layout and misted Maya Road and Basic Grey chipboards. Mists work really well with chipboards.

Ahia's Idol

David looks up to his Ahia as his idol, imitating everything he does and says. He also loves to wear his Ahia's shoes and slippers whenever he gets the chance. No matter how many slippers I buy for him, he still prefers Ahia's slippers that he has mastered walking around in big shoes or slippers without tripping.

Animal Fever

I love the new releases of Sassafras Lass, Little Yellow Bicycle and Fancy Pants. Their colors are so bright and fun I had a great time making layouts using them. I finished these 3 layouts along with 2 others in just 1 day!

Animals are the current trend in papers right now. Both Sassafras and Little Yellow Bicycle featured animal papers this season. I enjoyed cutting them out.

Title: It's a jungle out there

I used Sassafras Lass papers in this layout and some leftover papers from Little Yellow Bicycle. I love how Sassafras utilized that small strip attached to the bottom of the paper by making it into a decorative strip.

Title: Dads'Playground

For this layout, I used Fancy Pants' On a Whimsy Papers and transparency. I rummaged through my rub-ons stash and used some of them here. To attach the transparency to the ribbon, i punched holes and attached ribbons to the rays of the sun and the stem of the flowers below. The original transparency was too flowery for me so I replaced the flowers with buttons. I added a monkey cut-out from the Sassafras paper and added buttons for the eyes (got this idea from pia's Pink Paislee layout)

Title: Scrub a dub dub

I made this layout during our adobo party and added some more embellishments at home. I'm so relieved to finally find papers to match these photos since I've been wanting to scrap them for a long time. I used Little Yellow Bicycle Safari Boy line. These papers are perfect for toddler and baby layouts because of their color. I love how these papers are embossed.

I had fun with my chomper when I was making this layout.

I read in an article in a scrapbook magazine on how to transform flowers into an embellishment that can be used for boy layouts by snipping it off! I snipped off the tips of the petals of a Heidi Swapp flower and made it into a sun! Finally, I will be able to use my Prima and Heidi Swapp flowers more often

I used the new Cosmo Cricket Snorkel papers for this layout. Unfortunately, we didn't get to go to the beach or swimming this summer so I used an old photo of Austin taken when we went to Boracay 3 years ago.

Austin's 11th Birthday

Time really flies so fast when it comes to our kids growing up. Meng and I just can't believe our dear Austin is already 11! If only we can turn back time....

Since it's already vacation time, Austin, David, me, my sister in law, Lujene, and Austin's cousins Shane and Lance, headed off to Club Manila East for a day of swimming to celebrate Austin's birthday. We left the house at 6am in order to make sure we will be able to get a cabana.

We tried the kayak boats first since the other attractions are not yet open. Austin got scared at first but finally got to try riding the kayak by himself several times. David wasn't even scared and was even paddling with his hands.

Afterwards we played around the kiddie pool where the kids had fun taking turns going down the small slide. David was scared at first being left alone in the kiddie pool and was clinging on to me. But later on, he got the hang of it and was jumping up and down the pool. He also had fun going up and down the slide.

At around 10am, we had a snack since we had an early breakfast. Afterwards, we proceeded to the beach waves and stayed there for around an hour. The older kids then went to try out the giant slide, which was a disappointment because they had to push themselves in order to slide down.

Had lunch in Club Manila East before proceeding home. The kids had fun but was very bitin.

I cooked spaghetti for dinner and had a small cake delivered for the traditional candle blowing ceremony. David, of course assisted in the candle blowing. Overall, I think Austin had fun naman on his special day, even if he had to work a bit to help his yaya prepare the merienda they need to sell today.

Valentine's Day Sale and demo at Lasting Impression

Aside from the big sale of Prima flowers last Saturday (all Prima flowers at 50% off!), we had a mini workshop in the afternoon. We made a small Valentine's day decor, using Shrink film for one of the embellishments, the ATB Paper Tagger and the 3-d Crystal Lacquer. The idea was lifted from a project made in Handmade It Scrapbook Trends magazine, although the design and the techniques used in the project were decided by Maybelle and me.

The key charm was attached using the ATB paper tagger. Stamps used are from Autumn Leaves' Stampology

The timepiece was made using shrink plastic. We stamped an image onto the plastic using Stazon and heat embossed it. It's a bit difficult to manage when you use a heat embossing gun, a good alternative is to use an oven toaster. The beads were secured using double sided tape. The stamped swirls were embossed using SAKURA 3-d Crystal Lacquer, which is similar to glossy accents and diamond glaze but dries up faster and has a finer tip.

The wings were colored using Glimmer Mist (Candy Apple Red)

Ribbons were attached on top so the decor could be hanged anywhere in the house

The above 2 pictures are made by Donna and Cookie who decided to use the paper tagger and the extra chipboard and charms to accentuate the ribbon.

Here's my take on Scheme 12. This photo was taken during my recent trip to HK for the company outing. I was waiting for my colleagues, Ann and Charlene to come out from the Space Mountain when I saw Woody! I immediately dashed to the line to have my photo taken. I didn't like the photo so much and decided I wanted a full body shot of us, so I went back in line. When it was my turn, the cast member said that Woody will just speak to Jessie for a while. I got so excited, half expecting that Jessie would come out too...and she did! So this time, I told the cast member to take a full body shot of the 3 of us.

I was so happy since I was hunting for Woody since I got to Disney. I missed having a photo taken with him the last time, but I was able to get one with Buzz. Toy Story's one of my collections. I bought lots of toy figures from Japan to collect. Now, whenever we got something that has anything Toy Story in it, Austin knows it's mine. :D

David moments

I decided to blog David's funny hirits here so I would have some sort of documentation to refer back to when I make my layouts. Am not too good at writing them down nor at remembering them (my memory's very lousy..i wonder if i will still remember anything by the time i'm 60!), so I'll use this blog as my sort of journal of the worth remembering moments with my kids.

Last night, David went out of the room to go to his yaya in her room. I asked Austin to bring him back to our room. I'm trying to teach him to wait for his yaya to come to our room as David's kind of an impatient kid. Austin dragged him back with him crying his lungs out. I finally told Austin to let him go but told David to wear his slippers (He likes walking barefoot). He quickly followed then as he was walking to his yaya's room, he shouted back at his Ahia.

I quickly followed him and reprimanded him about it.

Mommy: David, dont shout at your Ahia. That's bad.

His eyes were wandering as I was talking to him so I told him to look at me.

I was expecting him to either ignore me, or just nod his head, but he replied...

David: Opo, opo, opo (complete with head down..imagine if may pinagalitan kang maid and how they answer you with opo ate opo)

Boy, was I surprised! My son knows how to use the word opo! I didn't even know he knew what it meant and I have never heard him use it.

To keep myself from smiling, as I was trying to project that I was not happy with his behavior, I added..

Mommy: Also always wear your slippers ok? Or else I will slap your feet.

David: ok, ok...opo, opo

I really hope I won't have another "laughing/crying at the same time" episode..my husband might think he married an insane woman :D

Reasoning out

Gone are the days when you tell your kids to do something and they do it right away without saying anything. Now, even if they are barely two, as long as they can talk and express themselves, they would try to reason out as much as they can.

I remember the time when I was reprimanding Austin. I think he was two at that time. I was so mad I was raising my voice and shouting at him. I forgot what it was all about, but he answered back with something that was so simple and funny, I began crying and laughing at the same time. Meng came in the room and was wondering what was wrong with me. He thought I had gone mad.

There are still times when Austin would reason out when I scold him, but so far he doesn't dare shout back at me, because that's where I draw the line. He can state his point, but not by shouting at me.

With David, I was surprised to hear him reason out to me. He doesn't talk as fluently as Austin did when Austin was two but he could already express what he wants. On the day of this birthday, he learned to say "hingi angpao".

Mommy: David, do not say "hingi angpao" to other people. Bad manners yan.
David: e Amah give e.

O nga naman...his Amah told him she will give him angpao because it's his birthday. But I didn't expect him to answer me while I talk to him.

He's starting to pick up more words from what he hears from us and the TV. He's always been pilosopo and playful, even before he started talking. Just last night, his yaya was asking him..

Yaya: David, where's your water? (water bottle..because she just gave him one)
David(shouting on top of his lungs): Water, where are you?

I can foresee loads of laughter and headache from this little guy.

Finally, I was able to make some layouts last January 4, the night before the long vacation ends. I had planned to work on layouts during the long vacation but hadn't been able to do so because I spend my holidays, sleeping, eating and reading the Twilight series...hehehe

I love the Halloween papers Lasting Impression have in stock right now. They got at least 5 brands of Halloween papers that are perfect for those unscrapped Trick or treat photos. One of my favorites is the line from Teresa Collins. I was able to make a mini book of my kids' Halloween photos in just 2 hours. Will post it soon. Still have to take a photo of it.

Here's a layout using one of the new lines, My Little Yellow Bicycle. I incorporated papers from other lines, such as the Salem line from Scenic Route from last year, and the Teresa Collins collection. Since most Halloween papers have a common color, black, it's easy to mix and match!

Photos were taken at Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay where we spent my parents' birthdays and anniversary. David had a blast playing at the grassy area and loved the coolness of the wind blowing on his face.

I bought matching shirts for me, David and Austin from Bossini (I got the biggest kiddie size hehehe) and we all wore matching shorts. Too bad, there's no size for Meng.

I finally got to use the Out of this World collection of Inque Boutique. Perfect for this photo of David. He starting to like airplanes, so we strapped this scooter box of Austin's onto his back to pretend he's the airplane.

Today is David's 2nd birthday. Unlike his first birthday, we decided to celebrate small with his cousins. Since I'm also on a budget, I decided to make my own cake, using cupcakes!

It's been a while since I baked anything, so I decided not to risk it and ordered cupcakes from the mom of my sister-in-law's friend at Php15 each. I got choco, choco banana, banana and carrot flavors from her. Thank goodness she agreed to make my cupcakes at the very last minute ( I was able to place my order at only 10pm last night!) We've tried her cupcakes before when they were distributed in sunday school and they're quite good, not dry. I got 30 pcs from her and added 10 more since she had baked extra and distributed them to my in-laws and my FIL's secretaries.

Since David loves Mickey Mouse, we decided to go with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme. Their official website had some ideas and materials which can be printed out, so I altered their goody box and made them into cupcake toppers! I printed them out on PVC id material and stuck a bbq stick behind it.

I had earlier made Mickey bag tags for his Sunday School loot bags so I made a bigger one for his "cake" and die-cut foam with the words "Happy 2nd bday" and pasted it on the big Mickey icon.

For the cake border, I made smaller versions of the Mickey icon using my Sizzix die and Fiskars round puncher. I cut out Mickey pants using red cardstock and glued round foam as buttons. For the gloves, I had printed out an image of it and used it as a pattern. I used pentel pen for the lines on the gloves. I had planned to do the shoes also but I couldn't find a good image of it to serve as pattern and couldn't draw a good one so I decided to skip it.

For the base, I rummaged around the kitchen to find the white plastic round container which my MIL bought lots of, so I borrowed one. The 2nd layer was a tin can I had previously decorated.

I got so aliw making these I didn't realize it was already 2am! I was quite satisfied with the outcome, I told Austin, he would have a similar cake with the theme of his choice on his 11th birthday! haha!

Family photos

We finally had our family photo taken last Dec. 31 by my sister-in-law. Yehey!

We spent New Year's Eve at my sister-in-law, Len's house. My brother-in-law, Jerome cooked some steak, shrimp, scallop and baked sea bass, while I contributed lasagna and Austin made some shepherd's pie and tuna carbonara. We also bought lechon from Lydia's and a cake from Icings.

We didn't buy any fireworks this year because everyone's on tipid mode so we settled for watching other people's firework display.

After dinner, we had a family portrait session with Meng taking pictures on my in-law's family as well as our complete family picture (with Yaya pressing the button of the camera which was set on a tripod). It's been a while since we had our family portrait taken. It's quite hard to take a photo of everyone looking at the camera and trying to get a toddler's attention to look at the camera.

Then we had a videoke session and went home before 12 to avoid the fireworks on the street. Hope we will be having this photo session again next year and the years after.

Christmas gifts

Of all the Christmas gifts that I got this Christmas, the most special one is the one from my sons, Austin and David.

Yesterday, Austin asked permission to go to the mall with his Sa-ko to have his watch repaired. Little did I know that he had a hidden agenda.

When we got home from work yesterday, he asked us to look under our blanket. After changing clothes, I took a look at what's under the blanket and found 2 gifts. 1 for me and 1 for his dad, all wrapped up. (Now I hate myself for not taking a photo of it before opening them!)

Mine was 2 small wrapped gifts placed on top of each other, with a gift tag saying: To Mommy, Merry Christmas! from: Austin and David.

Inside I found a cellphone charm (which turned out to be a cellphone cleaner....perfect for my cellphone screen full of fingerprints!) and a silver bracelet. Austin got his dad an I-mag photography magazine.

What made it even more special is that he used his hard earned money to buy us presents. He sold refreshments and snacks last summer and during the days when he doesn't have school. He also saved up the allowances I give him. He even bought his Sa-ko a frog paperclip since his Sa-ko loves frogs.

Austin may not be a very malambing person, not the type to hug you and kiss you good night without prompting, but he has proven to be a very very thoughtful person. His gifts to us were carefully chosen. He had wanted to get me the 2nd book of the Eragon series, Eldest but he couldn't find one. He got his daddy a photography magazine because he knows his daddy loves to read them.

Thank you very much Austin and David! Your daddy and I love you guys so much!

Here are some Christmas photos of Meng and me taken during Arlene's daughter, Anika's birthday and during Arlene's dad, Tito Diony's birthday.

We are sooo behind this Christmas with Christmas shoots and parties keeping us busy busy busy as well as our everyday work. I used to have my gifts done and all wrapped up by end of November, that by 2nd week of December, i have usually given out all my gifts. This year, I'm still wrapping and buying gifts a week before Christmas!

We haven't even had our annual Christmas family photo shoot (which just started last year..hehehe). With Meng and Jeff into photography and being the official photographers, Pia and my family do not have a lot of family pictures. So starting last year, Pia, Jeff and Ethan and our family agreed to schedule a day in December when we could have each other's family photos taken. We hope we could have it before Christmas, but if time doesn't permit us, we'll just have a post Christmas photo shoot. (Ethan, get well soon!)

Weekend at Tagaytay

Taal Vista, Tagaytay

Meng, Austin, David and I, together with my parents and my sister, May Ann spent the last weekend of November at Tagaytay.

Upon arrival in Tagaytay, we ate lunch at Josephine's since we can only check-in at 2pm. After lunch, we proceeded to Taal Vista Hotel to check-in. Since the rooms were not available yet, David and I watched the cultural show in the dining area.

Austin and David planned on having a swim in the pool but the water was too cold. Good thing, there was a tub in the rooms so they just soaked in the tub for around 30 minutes.

My parents and my sister took a short nap while we watched TV. Since we had adjoining rooms, David had a blast running between the rooms calling everyone out. By around 5pm, I got hungry so Meng and I and the kids drove to Bag of Beans while my parents and sister attended Mass in the nearby chapel. I've heard that the pies of Bag of Beans were good, so we bought 3 to taste and share with my family. We also drove to Amira's near Taj but unfortunately it was already closed. (We found out the next day that there's a new branch at Summit Ridge, just a few meters away from Taal Vista! sheeesh!)

We had dinner at Firelake in Cliffhouse. The food was quite good but I didn't get to enjoy it so much since David didn't want to eat and he was walking everywhere! He only had soup and wouldn't eat even mashed potatoes.

We went back to the hotel afterwards since it was drizzling.

During breakfast, David won't eat again. I gave him cereal, pancakes and even fruits but he refuses eat any of them. So my mom decided to play with him outside so I can eat. He had so much fun going up and down the garden and let the wind blow in his face. After a while, I tried feeding him congee with egg which he finally ate.

We went to the Residence Inn zoo so David can see some animals. It's David's first time to visit the zoo and he loved the animals especially the monkeys and the lions. He kept on imitating them.

Since we're still quite full with the breakfast, we just ate lunch at Shakey's before heading home to avoid traffic. My mother in law was in Taal Vista too, walking around after having lunch there with some friends. We were able to catch her as we were checking out from the hotel.

Austin and David slept so soundly in the car as we drove home. Good thing, there wasn't so much traffic on the way home.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong Nov22-24,2008

3 days of Hong kong has left me extremely tired and exhausted but happy. Our company just had our annual company outing in HK last Nov 22-24,2008. Armed with 1 medium and 1 small luggage (which i placed inside the medium luggage) and an extra bag, I went to HK with the intention to shop as much as I can :D

Day 1: The day started quite well with some of us upgraded to the business class area. What a coincidence when the one in the check-in counter is a cousin of my cousin. Since I'm with couples (Roy, Joy, Joseph and Francia), and there were no more 2 seats beside each other that are free, she upgraded us (thanks Sharon!). We left Manila at 8:00AM and arrived at 10:00AM. After passing through the immigration and getting our luggages, we met the travel agency representative at the arrival area. While waiting for the others to arrive, Sue and I went to purchase Octopus tickets for everyone and discounted Ocean Park ($172 instead of $209) and The Peak 3 in 1 combo ticket ($138 instead of $170) at the China Travel Ltd booth just beside the customer service booth at the Arrival B hall. Then we proceeded to board the bus going to the hotel. Good thing, we're the first stop because it took a while for everyone to check in. We stayed at Wing Sing hotel in Yau Ma Tei which has the tiniest hotel room I've ever seen! Well, that's what you get when you're on a budget.

Afterwards, we left for Central while the others left for Ocean Park. We went to Worldwide Plaza's Trvaleeasy Ltd where we bought discounted Disney tickets ($320 instead of $350) for everyone and bought People's Kabayan Sim card ($38) as well. People's Kabayan is a good option for those traveling in groups as the intra-network text messaging is free.

We met at H&M in Central. When the 2nd batch arrived, some proceeded to Wanchai while we went to Causeway Bay. I went to Sogo and we all met up at Ikea afterwards. Then we all went to ride the Peak Tram which had a very long line! I was so looking forward to going to the Madame Tussaud Wax Museum but unfortunately time didn't permit me to go as I need to meet my Uncle and Auntie so after taking a few pictures at the Sky Terrace, I hurriedly went back down.

On the way down, there was a commotion because a lady tour guide with some Japanese was leading her group towards the front with the intention of getting in the line. Apparently one of the ladies in front told her companion about this and referred to the tour guide as "son of a bitch" and unfortunately the lady guide heard it. The lady guide went into hysterics shouting at the other girl, while the companion of the other girl was acting as mediator stepping in the middle of the 2 warring girls. The other girl kept asking the guide to calm down but that just made the guide even angrier, telling the other girl to F--- you. This didn't stop even when a station officer tried to calm the guide down and continued inside the tram. Me and the other passengers were just laughing the scene off because the guide was staring to look like a lunatic.

My Uncle Poon, Auntie Ale and I met at my hotel and went to have some dimsum at a nearby restaurant. Fortunately, the restaurant was near Bossini so I had some time to shop afterwards. There was a small store called In and Out where I also got to buy some clothes for myself. Afterwards, I went back to the hotel to get some rest.

Day 2: We spent the whole day in Disneyland where I got the chance to take photos with Woody, Jessie and Stitch. I didn't get the chance to have my photo taken with the Disney princesses but I caught them while they were on their way back to the dressing room. I also got to see some of my favorite attractions like Buzz Lightyear's Astroblasters and Festival of the Lion King. Unfortunately I missed the High School Musical show and didn't get to try Autopia because of the long line.

We had lunch at Chef Mickey at the Hollywood Hotel. They had great food so the $158 fee +10% service charge was so worth it. There were even Mickey pancakes and Mickey shaped cookies. I especially loved the shrimps, seafood stew, the Mickey pancakes, roats goose and the chocolate fountain and the cakes. Then we went to the back of the hotel where there are several vintage looking cars specially parked for picture taking purposes and a big Hollywood Hotel sign behind it. Even the benches were Mickey-shaped. There was a small hill there where I got to take pre-nup looking photos of the couples in our group. We also had our group photo by the hotel.

The shopping group went to Tung Chung Citygate outlet by 6:00pm while the others stayed behind to watch the fireworks. Citygate is shopping haven but sadly I missed the Bossini and Baleno shop so I ended up buying just a couple of pants for Meng at Giordano and a hat for my sister, May Ann at Esprit.

We then had dinner as a group at Steak house inside Food Republic. Their set meals were quite good and very very filling. Afterwards, we're off to Tsim Sha Tsui for more shopping at Granville Road.

We finished shopping past midnight with very very sore feet. We almost didn't make it to the MTR!

Day 3: Instead of taking the airport transfer provided by our travel agency, we opted for the airport express since the airport transfer is too early! We used the in-town check-in facility of the Airport Express in Kowloon and shopped at the Elements for a while. Then we headed to Harbour city via the Airport Express shuttle bus to have lunch at City Super(yum yum Thai food) and bought Royce Nama chocolates. Afterwards, we made it back to Jordan to buy some cha siu (asado) to bring home. Stan and I went back to the hotel to get my hand carry baggage and proceeded to the Airport Express station in Kowloon. When we got there, I was already feeling dizzy and extremely tired. I just bought some pastries from Wing Wan for my mom and proceeded to the boarding area.

When I found my seat, I strapped myself and slept till it was eating time. I found myself feeling cold so I asked for a blanket. After a while, still no blanket, so I asked another stewardess again. It took me 2 more times to ask and I still didn't get any blanket till we landed. PAL's service is getting lousier. I even buzzed the attendant button several times.

I was so glad when we landed but Meng thought I'm arriving at 8:30pm instead of 8:00pm! So I had to wait for half an hour till he arrives from his office.

By the time we got home, I was already throwing up everything I ate in the plane. Austin was too engrossed in the toy I gave him, while David went to see me and quickly grabbed some tissue and said "Mommy tissue". Such a sweet kid! He didn't even need prompting.

After all the throwing up, I went to bed and slept so soundly till the next day. Good thing, my headache was gone but my feet still hurt from all the walking. All of us had the same problem when we got to the office that we were thinking of hiring masseurs to give us some foot massage while working..hahaha!

I (together with 7 other wonderful Filipina scrappers) got a wonderful opportunity to create with Daisy Bucket Designs, through our good friend, Pia Lopez, who is a resident designer. Cassandra of DBD sent lots of stuff for us to share and create layouts.

I had a wonderful time creating 3 layouts for Dasiy Bucket Designs using 3 of their new lines...Perfect Harmony, In the Meadow, and A Wondrous World. I especially love their Paper ribbon elements which are so easy to use and their cute little stamps!

I may be a fast scrapper, but a lazy fast scrapper...hehehe especially now when all I want to do when I get home is sleep. Which explains why I still got a lot of photos waiting to be scrapped. I haven't even finished my 2 sons' birthday photos until now. Our pictures from the Bora trip last year was still unscrapped so I decided the easiest way to get most of it done is to just scrap them digitally.

I laid out our photos to fit a 5R print and just left some space at the left side so I can punch out holes from my bind it all. I would recommend scrapping this way for people who want all their photos to be printed out.

I just made the covers by covering chipboards with patterned papers from basic grey and added some thickers and rub-ons. Will post the cover another time.

I enjoyed doing this as I am forced to research on some techniques to use and download digital freebies.

Title: Grandparents' Love

This photo was taken on Father's Day 2007 where we spent the day in Taal Vista. This is one of the very few photos of my in-laws with their precious grandchildren, Austin, David, Shane and Lance.

Title: To Eat or Not to Eat

I love how expressive David's face can be and how so many expressions he can make even if the photos are taken just seconds apart. That's why I have a hard time choosing which photos of him to develop or not.

I'm glad that he's not a picky eater and I hope he stays that way. Austin was a very picky eater till he turned 7. I always admire parents who have trained their kids to eat anything served to them. For my kids, I would have to credit my yaya, who has patiently taught both my kids to eat veggies and tuyo and galunggong and my mother-in-law for exposing them early to foods like frog legs, kidney and liver and those with chinese herbs.

Scrappin' Moms Idol 2 Finale photos

It was a great showdown among the Top 10 finalists and Scrappin' Moms Idol 1 winner, Cabbie Jane Lopez. This probably was one of the hardest challenges to judge as all the entries were absolutely beautiful!

Aside from the Idol challenge, various challenges were held during the day. The girls came up with wonderful layouts and cards.

Despite the brownout, the Idols have proved that nothing can get in the way of making a layout.

My Family History

Austin had an art assignment to make an album about their family's history and this is what we came up with. Since I'm not into vintage type of layouts, this was also a challenge for me. I dug out all my vintage looking papers while my son asked for old photos from my father in law. To make it easier to match, I rescan and retook the photos and had them printed in black and white. Austin interviewed my in-laws for information about their parents while I interviewed my parents for information about my grandparents.

I got the idea of making a sort of a gatefold album from Scrapjam's workshop. I borrowed Maybs' Bind it All (thanks Maybs!) and got some chipboard and papers from Vivian (thanks too Viv!). I bought the monograms from Rekindled Moments and sprayed them with Glimmer Mist (this one has a very nice effect, subtle lng ang pagkaglittery and it absorbs very well with chipboard..very fine dots lng). I got the book knobs of 7gypsies from Vivian.

The reason why I put so much effort(and money!..the cover pa lng costs more than Php500!) on making this 17x8 album is so my kids would be able to remember their ancestors when they grow up and maybe even tell their own kids about me and meng, about their grandparents. Maybe I got too carried away also coz I know you can make an album that won't cost that much..hehehe.

The left portion under the letter L side contains information about Meng's family while the right portion under the letter C contains information about my side of the family.

One of the most sulit buys I had these past few weeks is the Scrapworks alpha stickers. 1 pack contains 2 pads of stickers, containing 3 sets of alphabets. And each pack costs only Php100.00!

Scrapworks papers and stickers are available at Lasting Impression. Alpha stickers are available in Flea Market and Magpie fonts. The image on the left is the Flea Market set which is available in black and brown. I have used the stickers in my You are my Everything and Hold my Hand layouts.

I got hooked to the owl! Here's another layout using Sassafrass Lass papers, this time from the Pocket full of posies line. It matched my pictures of Austin and David taken during the birthday of my niece, Bernice. The celebration was held at Urdaneta Clubhouse and took the chance to take pictures at the playground beside the clubhouse.

Beyond Scrapping

Nintendo lessons

David adores his Ahia very much and has taken a liking to the toys Ahia usually plays with. He loves cars and balloons and at times shift his attention to his Ahia's Nintendo DS Lite. David loves sitting on the stairs watching my father-in-law's pet birds, so I asked Austin to sit beside him so he wouldn't go up further or go down the stairs by himself.

In this photo, it seems Ahia has taken the initiative to teach his syoti how to play games in his Nintendo DS.

David's favorite hiding/playing places

I don't what is it with cabinets, but David loves sitting in them. He also loves rummaging through the stuff inside and making a mess. He asked Meng and me to take a photo of him while sitting in the cabinet where his diapers are stored.

Another favorite hiding place is the pantry. He would sometimes sit on the boxes in the pantry and close the door and play hide and seek with us. That's why now we usually keep the pantry locked.

One of the first places we go to when David goes missing is the CR. This boy just loves water and loves playing with the toilet bowl! There was a time he threw the entire roll of tissue inside the toilet bowl...tsk tsk naughty boy!

Spa for Kids

Kids these days are so lucky. It took most of us to reach our twenties or thirties before we got to experience the relaxing massages from the spa, but nowadays even babies can get their own massages.

Last Sunday, we went to Fun Ranch in Frontera Verde Pasig to check out the big playground they have. Unfortunately, it was a bit hot and David was showing signs of being sleepy. Meng decided we should just go home, but not after he and Austin got to ride on the bump cars. There were just 3 of them bumping each other. David enjoyed watching his Ahia and his Daddy bumping each other's cars.

On our way to the parking, we spotted Little Lamb's Pediatric Wellness Spa and decided to ask what their whirlpool is. It was actually a jacuzzi for kids. We also found out they have massages for kids and yes, even infants! Austin loves getting massages so we had both David and Austin try their massages. It seems both of them had a wonderful time, while me and Meng wait for them to finish.

On a roll with Prima Dude

I do not usually buy Prima stuff except for some of their flowers mainly because the designs are mostly feminine. I got 2 boys and rarely scrap about myself.

Recently, Prima introduced a more masculine design called Dude. I saw this first at Iris' blog and fell in love with it. So when the papers arrived at Lasting Impression, I immediately got myself some.

I split some of the papers with Hannie so I don't end up with a lot of scraps. The first night I used the papers, I fell in love with them! I made 3 LOs last monday night, and made another one last night all using the 3 1/2 papers of Prima I bought last Saturday! I'm still left with some more papers that's good for another layout so I hope I can make another one within the week.

Both pictures were taken when Austin and David were 1 year and 2 months old. However, they had different reactions on their first time on the beach.

Austin didn't want to step on the sand because it was dirty. It was after a while when he agreed to walk on the sand.

David had a totally opposite reaction. He considers the sandy beach as a very big playground. He excitedly walked on the sand, played with it and almost ate it!

Turning 31

I don't know why or if these kind of things only happens to me, but I can never be too happy in one day. If I get so happy earlier during the day, for sure something will happen in the afternoon or evening that would make me sad. Is it because I was born on April Fools Day? I hope not. (Maybs, do these kind weird stuff happen to you too? :p) One of those days was also on April 1, 6 years ago. In the morning, I was contacted by the HR of the company where I'm currently working that I got the job. I was waiting for the call for days so I was extremely happy that day with plans of having dinner with my parents. Later that afternoon, a big fire broke out from the house opposite ours. Thank God our house was spared.

Yesterday was the opposite. Around noon, 2 guys went inside our office unnoticed. A laptop was in the conference room near our reception and the staff using the laptop went to the restroom for a while. The 2 guys stole the laptop in a matter of seconds and was gone in less than a minute. They were even able to go out of the building through the main entrance!

Meng came to the my office in the afternoon so we could go home together with my sister in law who went shopping with my son, Austin. I didn't know Austin went with her as he was suppose to be on duty selling gulaman at our place.

When we got home, that's when I found out the real reason why he went with my sister in law, to buy me a birthday gift..or rather birthday gifts! He insisted on choosing them himself. He bought me a chocolate cake from Hungry Pac which I love! Also included is a book he picked out himself entitled Happily Married for Life, a picture frame and 4 bangles. This is my best birthday ever! I'm blessed with 2 loving sons, a supportive husband, and loving family and friends, what more could I ask for?

P.S. Maybelle Ngo, my co-DT in Lasting Impression and I share the same birthday. No, it's not a requirement to have April 1 as your birthday to become a DT for Lasting Impression..hehehe. Actually I found out about it just a day before our birthday.

My Newest Addiction : Digital Scapbooking

Just last Saturday, I decided to surf the net for some digital kits because I intend to try to scrap my son, David's 1st birthday party digitally. With the amount of pictures Meng and Jeff took, I don't think I'd be able to finish scrapping them traditionally. I went to shabbyprincess.com and bought a couple of kits and started digiscrapping last Sunday afternoon. After 9 8x8 layouts, I'm hooked!

Here's what I've made using the Silly Boy Nut nut and Cuddlebug kits I bought from shabby princess. The baptism photos were made using Silly Boy Nut nut while the party photos were made using the Silly Boy Cuddlebug kit. As I have said, there's an enormous amount of photos so I was able to scrap only till the beginning of David's party. So more pictures to come and hopefully real soon!

Digiscrappers, help naman in the proper way of crediting the stuff I used. I'm not sure if what I've said above is enough crediting..hehehe

Layouts for Lasting Impression

Vivian asked us to choose from different brands of paper for our DT assignments. One of the brands I chose is Making Memories Noteworthy line. When I got home, I realized I didn't have any photos to match the papers! Luckily, we had a mini EB at Mia's place in Cavite and Meng was able to take some photos of Mia's lovely kids. So I made layouts using their pictures instead.

The paper fits Raya's swimsuit colors perfectly. Finally i got to use my Crafter's workshop template for the scallop template.

Jeff took this beautiful photo of Mia's baby Alyssa while Nelo was trying to make her smile. I added a journaling card because knowing Mia, I know she'd love to journal something about her baby.

Shanghai Trip

The company that I worked for sent me to our office in Shanghai to support our consultants there with a new project they are working on from dec 5-13, 2007. This was my 3rd or 4th time in Shanghai but I never got the time to go sightseeing on my previous trips since time was limited. I had the chance to visit the Bund once but only to take pictures.

I was very lucky that my sister works there so I had someone to accompany me sightseeing and shopping! Fortunately, I got to stay for the weekend and there was no work on Sundays. Our journey started at 4pm of Dec 7. My sister was suppose to fetch me from my workplace but there were some change of plans bec. of the traffic. So she asked me to take a taxi to a mall on the same street as my workplace to meet up there. While waiting for her, I checked out the kid's section, which was beside their office supplies station. I checked out their office supplies station in search for something I could use for scrapping and found SAKURA PENS! All sorts of Sakura pens were there so I bought some Aqualip and Souffle pens as well as some metallic ones. They cost around RMB 8 each.

We went to a small market at the back of the mall to look for some trinkets to buy. Most of the stuff sold there were also available here so I didnt buy anything. We left our stuff at my hotel (my sister slept over) and went to our next stop..IKEA!

I've never been to an Ikea store so I was so surprised when I saw this huge building full of household stuff! I was so amazed at the wide selection of items and some are very affordable. I was able to buy an apron for my mother in law, some table mats and apple cutter for my sister in law, a blanket, finger puppets and toy bin for David, some masks and bibs too for David, a lime green stool and a toiletry bag for myself. If only I can bring home those bulky stuff I would have bought more!

Afterwards, we went directly to a restaurant serving Yunnan food called Lost Heaven where my sister had reservations. The food was superb! We had an eggplant salad, a spicy beef dish and a chicken dish (i dont recall what they are called..hehehe). We finished up all 3 dishes!

We went for a stroll near the TV tower after dinner and went up the JinMao 88-Floor Tower in Lujiazui, Pudong to sneak a peak on the overview of Shanghai. We took a peek inside a nearby mall before it closes, then we called it a night.

The next day's itinerary was to first go to Yu Ying Garden and eat their famous siao long pao. The store opens at 10am and we go there around that time but there was already a long line there. Good thing the line wasn't that long yet so we didnt have to line up for several hours. (On peak hours, the line's very very long that it could take an hour or two before you can get your siao long pao). The siao long pao costs RMB12 for 16 pcs...not bad. The store has a 2nd and 3rd level which sells the siao long pao more expensively than the one on the ground floor. The price increases as you go higher (arounf RMB60 for just 5 pcs!)

When it was our turn, an old homeless lady was asking for alms so my sister decided to buy her an order of siao long pao to fill her tummy rather than give her money. She heartily indulged in the siao long pao, that even the passersby got curious where she got her siao long pao.

We saw someone eating ...er....drinking a big siao long pao so we searched the grounds looking where the person bought it. Finally after a few rounds, we found it. It turns out, you just drink the soup inside the siao long pao, that's why it comes with a straw. We also found a store selling big brushes which are so nice, but we didnt know where or how to use them, so we just took a picture beside it..hehehe While roaming around, we bumped into the old lady asking for alms..hehehe

Next stop was a tiangge similar to our 168 mall nearby that sells, well almost similar stuff. I was able to buy some whisper stamp pads and wooden stamps, which reminds me i have to try out the stamp pads so i can ask my sister to buy me more!

We skipped lunch and start to head to my sister's place. Along the way, we passed by Times Square in Huai Hai Middle Road and stopped by Infiniti Mall to grab some ice cream.

We left our stuff at my sister's place and headed for Shanghai Outlet Shopping Place in Qingpu which is similar to our Designer's Depot here. They have all the American and European brands as well as Chinese brands. I was able to purchase a rubber shoes for myself, a Nike knapsack, a Nike jacket and cap for Meng, and 3 long sleeve polos for me at Benetton. My sister bought Austin a Harry Potter jacket too.

For dinner, it was noodles and siao long pao again! Meeting my sister's friend, Veronica, at Taiwanese DinDaiFeng XiaoLongBao in XinTianDi, we indulged in yet another round of siao long pao. After dinner, we walked around XinTianDi which is considered the Malate of Shanghai. Then we had dessert at the HoneyMoon Place inside a mall.

We bid farewell to each other after dessert and I returned to my hotel. Thanks to my dear sister May Ann (yes, I got another sister named June) for acocmpanying me around and treating me on almost all my meals during my 2 day adventure in Shanghai. It's back to work!

Off to Boracay! Day 1

What a week! Coming home from Shanghai last Dec 13 and off to Boracay the following day! I miss my kids so much already...if only i could bring them with me to Bora!

Dec 14 - we left for Boracay with my officemates. This is our 2nd company outing + Christmas party in one. We had one 2 years ago in Boracay also. We left at 1pm (good thing we were not delayed) and arrived at Boracay around 4pm. We went for a swim and met at the Hey Jude(where we stayed) lobby at 6:30pm to go together to Fridays where we will be having our party.

The buffet was soooo good! I think I tasted every single dish and loved their oysters rockefeller! I must have had 10 of them :D Their roast lamb was also yummy!

After our meal, we had our games by the beachfront. Biboy spearheaded the games committee (it's our tradition that the newbies will organize the games for the party every year) coming up with games that will encourage teamwork. Each team had to create their own team name and have a team cheer. We elected Rjay as our team leader but it took him a while to think of a name so Cesar named our team, Team Mawa. Unfortunately, we were all lousy at thinking of cheers, Gracia ended up doing the Marimar trademark as our cheer and we changed our team name to Team Marimar. The other team even had a cheerleading stunt included in their cheer (led by Joy, Roy's wife).

Our first game was ...well i don't know what it's called...the concept is for 5 members from each group to hold a long walis tingting by their finger only. The group must lower down the stick onto the ground slowly and the stick must be straight or at the same level as it goes down. Our group lost this game by just a second or two.

Our next game, which I don't know what it's called also...is sort of a maze. There would be a team leader who will stand at the other end of the maze. The team leader would "lead" the blindfolded member through the maze without knocking off any bottle. Of course, our team leader is Eric...hehehe. This time, we won!

The third game is a knock off of Pinoy Henyo using AMMIC terms as the words that needs to be guessed. This game is a good change from our traditional charades game (i think we've done all the variations of charades over the years..hehehe). The other team won making them the grand winner but in the end, we agreed to spend the Php5,000 total prize for dinner so everyone can enjoy it.

There was suppose to be a fourth game but we were all tired already so we started our "journey" back to our hotel. It was a very very long walk going back to Hey Jude which is in Station 2. The other guys still went out for a drink while me and Meng went back to our room. I called a masseur so I can have a relaxing massage before going to sleep. Meanwhile, Meng was already too sleepy he went to sleep ASAP (complete with snoring..hehehe)

I had fun making this layout as the papers matched our photos perfectly! Plus I don't need a lot of embellishments to fill up the page because the paper itself is already very very nice!
